About

Hi - I’m Ashley

I began my teaching career with the School District of Philadelphia before working for Atlanta Public Schools.  I have served as a special education teacher and special education administrator. Additionally, I am trained in and lead equity coaching and facilitation for educators.

I am a STRONG proponent of public schools and believe in the ability of every child to excel.  The best solution is one in which the parent and the school are working together.

How did I get here?

Over the last several years friends and family have come to me asking for my professional opinion about the special education services that their child receives or how to get their child assistance.

With my professional background in Special Education, I have worked with children who have many different disabilities. I have taught students with intellectual disabilities, autism, learning disabilities, speech and language disabilities, and behavioral disabilities.  As a teacher, I collaborated with general education teachers, psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, adapted teachers, and parents to ensure my kiddos were getting what they needed. As a Special Education administrator, I worked with everyone in the school as well as parents to identify students needing services, ensure adequate services and propel students forward.

I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs and from Eastern University with a degree in Multicultural Education.

Currently, I work with the CREATE Teacher Residency Project at Georgia State University in Atlanta - our mission is a compassionate, skilled, anti-racist educator for every student.  I love getting to help novice teachers, work with mentor teachers, and be in schools on a regular basis.

My dream is to help fill in the gaps for parents who can then serve as their own advocates for students in need of additional services.  Because Special Education law is federal and applies to all 50 states, I have decided to begin online consulting to have the farthest reach and help as many folks as I can.
